Travel Disruption on Clifton Road This Weekend and Next

Emory University has informed us that two intersections on Clifton Road near the Emory Hospital will be worked on this weekend and next. There will only be two lane traffic available on Clifton from Haygood/Eagle Row to North Decatur Road on Saturday and Sunday. Update on Emory Annexation into City of Atlanta

At a recent community partnership meeting, Emory officials reported that the university continues to explore its annexation into the City of Atlanta. The annexation will not occur in calendar year 2016. The University continues to review internally and externally all of the factors involved with this change. They also reported that clarity regarding the emergency response system is of paramount importance and that a meeting between the County and the City of Atlanta about this issue is expected to happen shortly.

Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event: Saturday, October 15, 8:00 a.m.-Noon

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will host a biannual household hazardous waste recycling event next Saturday at the Central Transfer Station located at 3720 Leroy Scott Drive. You will have the opportunity to property dispose of materials such as aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, artist supplies, and paint and paint-related products. Items such agricultural waste, ammunition and biomedical waste and pharmaceuticals will not be accepted. Participation is free and only open to county residents. Proper identification to prove county residence may be requested at the event.
