The survey specifically avoided adult-oriented websites to prevent bias.[11]A portion of the fandom is sexually interested in zoophilia, although a majority take a negative stance towards the former.[37] In a survey conducted by David J. Rust in 1997-1998, about 2% of furry respondents stated an interest in zoophilia, and less than 1% an interest in plushophilia, though the survey's accompanying study doesn't comment on these results,.[38]
Whereas pedophilia refers to the sexual preference for children, paraphilic infantilism refers to the sexual interest in being a child.
The parallels between gender identity disorder and apotemnophilia have been noted,[9][14] as have the similarities between gender identity disorder and species identity disorder.
In a letter to the editor of The Journal of Sex Research, San Francisco-based physician and activist Charles Allen Moser criticized Lawrence' endorsement of the concept of ETLEs.[16] He noted that "there is nothing wrong with creating or expanding a classification system of sexual interests" but believed that Lawrence "pathologizes nonstandard sexual expression" and that "ETLEs are a slippery slope," whereas Moser's view is that all sexual phenomena should be removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

When Franco was at a point in his life where he wanted to give back but was unsure how, he asked his Spider-Man co-star Kirsten Dunst for advice. 826DC is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC dedicated to develop writing skills among students from ages 6 to 18. It was founded in 2010 as a chapter of 826 National. In November 2013, it received the Literacy Award from the Library of Congress.[1]

On March 31, 2011, the actor took part in "An Evening with James Franco," a Washington DC dinner benefit for 826DC, a non-profit foundation created to help neighborhood students reach their goals, as well as provide after-school literature programs and workshops that encourage them to improve their writing skills.
826 National is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping students, ages 6–18, with expository and creative writing at seven locations across the USA.[1] The chapters include 826 Valencia in San Francisco, 826NYC in Brooklyn, New York, 826LA in Los Angeles, CA, 826CHI in Chicago, 826michigan in Ann Arbor, 826 Boston in Boston, and 826DC in Washington, DC. Together, the seven chapters serve about 30,000 students a year.[2] 826 National also runs a college-success program called ScholarMatch. The 826 National mission is based on the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. Each 826 chapter provides drop-in tutoring, class field trips, writing workshops, and in-schools programs—all free of charge. 826 chapters are especially committed to supporting teachers, publishing student work, and offering services for English language learners.[3]
Franco became involved with Dave Eggers' 826 National after Eggers asked him to do a conceptual idea for the program, and he directed a documentary for them and has since been a supporter of them. At the event, he spoke about how he thought schools needed to be more original with their literature programs. "Writing can do things that video cannot," he added.[151]
Yoshiki Hayashi (林 佳樹 Hayashi Yoshiki?, born November 20, 1965) is a Japanese musician, songwriter, composer and record producer. Better known by his stage name Yoshiki, he is best known as the leader and co-founder of the heavy metal band X Japan, for which he is the drummer, pianist and principal songwriter. The band achieved breakthrough success in the late 1980s, and besides being one of the first Japanese acts to achieve mainstream success while on an independent label, Extasy Records which he founded,[4] the group is widely credited as one of the pioneers of the visual kei movement.[5][6] Though the band disbanded in 1997, they reunited in 2007 after ten years. In 2000 and 2007, Yoshiki formed his solo musical project Violet UK and the Japanese rock supergroup S.K.I.N. respectively.
Yoshiki was born on November 20, 1965 in Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, as the elder of two brothers. He began taking piano lessons and music theory at age four.[10] He then became interested in classical works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert.[10] In elementary school, he played the trumpet in the brass band, and around age ten started composing songs for piano.[10] This period was a decisive point in his life; when his father committed suicide, he found relief in rock music.[11]After discovering the music of American hard rock band Kiss, he started learning to play drums and guitar, and soon with his childhood friend Toshi formed a band called Dynamite in 1977. Dynamite changed its name to Noise a year later.
When Noise disbanded in 1982, Yoshiki and Toshi formed a new band, which they named X while they tried to think of another name, but the name stuck. In 1986, Yoshiki founded his own independent record label,Extasy Records, in order to distribute the band's music.[12] On December 26, 1987, the band participated in an audition held by CBS/Sony which led to a recording contract in August of the following year. The band's breakthrough came in 1989 with the release of their second, and major debut, album Blue Blood, which reached number six on the Oricon chart and charted for more than 100 weeks. In 1990, the band received the "Grand Prix New Artist of the Year" award at the 4th Japan Gold Disc Awards.[13] In 1991 they released their hit million-selling album Jealousy, and were the first Japanese metal band to perform in Japan's largest indoor concert venue, the Tokyo Dome.
In 1995, in response to the Kobe earthquake, Yoshiki held an X Japan's Christmas Eve charity concert in Osaka, and presented the certifications of new pianos to students whose schools were damaged during the earthquake.
In 2009, he invited 200 young orphans to attend two X Japan's concerts in January in Hong Kong, and donated money to a charity organization for orphans.[63] On March 29 and 31, he visited a town in the province ofSichuan, China, which was devastated by the earthquake in 2008, and donated musical instruments to the schools in the area.[64] He again invited children from the local orphanages in Taipei, Taiwan, to be the special guests in the X Japans's concert on 30 May.[65]
In 2010, he founded Yoshiki Foundation America, a California non-profit, public benefit corporation with tax-exempt status as a section 501(c)3.[66] On July 1, the foundation hosted a free benefit fan bash for charity atClub Nokia, Los Angeles. Beneficiaries included the Grammy Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and St. Vincent Meals on Wheels.[66]In 2011, to provide aid to the victims of March 11's Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the Foundation in association with Yahoo! Japan organized the Japan Relief Fundraising Auction, and all the benefits were sent to the Japanese Red Cross.[66][67] Yoshiki auctioned one of his Kawai Crystal Grand CR-40 pianos, and with restructuring verification system by Yahoo! Auctions, because offers reached high as $20 million,[68][69] it got sold for $134,931.[70]
In 2014, Yoshiki Foundation America 501(c)(3) partnered with the MusiCares Foundation in an auction for a private dinner with Yoshiki. The auction awarded the two highest bidders each with a dinner and raised $62,000 for the Grammy Foundation and MusiCares.[71][72]
In April 2011, Franco autographed a T-shirt that would be auctioned off through the Yoshiki Foundation, with the proceeds being donated for Japanese tsunami relief.[152] On June 14, he was honored by amfAR, the foundation for AIDS research, at the Museum of Modern Art. Franco received the Piaget Award of Inspiration for his humanitarian work and contributions to men's style.[153]
In April 2013, Franco received the Ally Award at the 15th annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. The award was presented to him in recognition of his unwavering support of the LGBT community.[154]
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is an American nonprofit organization, headquartered in New York City. It is the theatre community's response to the AIDS crisis. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the theatre community, on Broadway, Off-Broadway and across the country, the organization raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States. Since its founding in 1988, it has raised over $250 million as of 2013 for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV, or HIV-related illnesses.
In April 2014, Franco presented at Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Easter Bonnet Competition with Leighton Meester and Chris O'Dowd, after raising donations at his Broadway show Of Mice and Men.[155] In June 2014, Franco performed in the BC/EFA benefit Broadway Bares[156]
