About Me

My photo
Hearing impaired (tendency to appear dumb, dense, and/or aloof), orthodox atheist (believe faith more harmful than doubt), self depreciating sense of humor (confident/not to be confused with low self esteem), ribald sense of humor (satorical/mocking when sensing Condescension), confirmed bachelor (my fate if not my choosing), freakish inclination (unpredictable non-traditionalist opinions), free spirit (nor conformist bohemian) Believe others have said it better...... "Jim! You can be SO SMART, but you can be SO DUMB!" "Jim! You make such a MARTYR of yourself." "He's a nice guy, but...." "You must be from up NORTH!" "You're such a DICK!" "You CRAZY!" "Where the HELL you from?" "Don't QUITE know how to take your personality." My favorite, "You have this... NEED... to be....HONEST!"

A.W. Tozer - Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

John 5:30

King James Version

 (KJV)

30 I can of mine own self do nothing
as I hear, I judge
and my judgment is just;
because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._W._Tozer:  Aiden Wilson Tozer (April 21, 1897 – May 12, 1963) was an American Christian pastor, preacher, author, magazine editor, and spiritual mentor. For his work, he received two honorary doctorate degrees.

Hailing from a tiny farming community in western La Jose, Pennsylvania, his conversion was as a teenager in Akron, Ohio. While on his way home from work at a tire company, he overheard a street preacher say "If you don't know how to be saved... just call on God, saying, 'Lord, be merciful to me a sinner.'" Upon returning home, he climbed into the attic and heeded the preacher’s advice.

In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. This began 44 years of ministry, associated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), a Protestant Evangelical denomination; 33 of those years were served as a pastor in a number of churches. His first pastorate was in a small storefront church in Nutter Fort, West Virginia. Tozer also served as pastor for 30 years at Southside Alliance Church, in Chicago (1928 to 1959), and the final years of his life were spent as pastor of Avenue Road Church, in Toronto, Canada.

In observing contemporary Christian living,
he felt that the church was on a dangerous course toward compromising
with "worldly" concerns.

It was May 1950, when Tozer was elected editor of the Alliance Weekly magazine, now called, Alliance Life, the official publication of the C&MA. From his first editorial, dated June 3, 1950, he wrote,

"It will cost something to walk slow in the parade of the ages, while excited men of time rush about confusing motion with progress. But it will pay in the long run and the true Christian is not much interested in anything short of that."

   CHAPTER SIX

In Luke 10,
Martha accused Jesus of  not caring that Mary was sitting at his feet refusing to help around the house
(38-42).

Martha, Martha, Jesus said, you're so tense.  How many number-one priorities is it possible for one woman to implement at the same time?  Mary has picked one thing, and it's the best thing.  There is no way I'm sending her away.  I'll allow no one to take her from me, not even you
(based on Lk 10:41-42).

The very same Mary of Bethany poured an entire jar of expensive ointment on Jesus's feet and wiped them with her hair.  (Jn 12:1-8).  At seeing this, Judas Iscariot protested.  What a waste! he said.  It could have been sold and the money given to the poor.

Jesus commanded:  Be quiet and leave this woman alone.  This is a beautiful thing she has done for me.  She will be remembered for this, because by pouring this on my body, she has anointed me for burial.  You can help the poor 365 days a year, but I don't have much time left.  Leave her be
(based on Jn 12:7-8).

Ghee whizz!
She might as well have gone ahead and given him the blow job!

It's impossible not to have an opinion.
Spoken or unspoken they still have consequences.

John 5:30

Simply Jim's Version

We can of our own selves do nothing
:
as we sense, we judge
:
and our judgment is just; because we seek not our own will, but the will of thy collective unconsciousness which cometh before us.
