CBS46 - Toco Hills Man Refuses To Remove Offensive Signs From Yard Part III

***

James Avery Simply Jim: "Rev. Josh. I hold you responsible for the behavior of your congregation." Associate Pastor Glenn Memorial: "But all Methodist aren't the same!" Simply Jim: "But they do have a commonality?" Associate Pastor Glenn Memorial: "YES THEY HAVE A COMMONALITY!" Simply Jim: You. It's you." With all the Master of Divinities we have around here, two thousand years later you think we would be doing better than 33% of world population. Here's another one. Simply Jim: Rev? Dr? Alice. What's the most liberal interpretation/understanding of John 3: 1-15 you've heard?" Senior Pastor of Glenn Memorial UMC (Magna Cum Laude Candler School of Theology): "I need to read it first and give it some thought." You would of thought a "Reverend Doctor for Ministry Magna Cum Laude from Candler School of Theology already done did! And I'm still waiting?! Here's another one. Simply Jim: "Rev. Dr. Beth LaRocca-Pitts nothing but a Catholic F*G HAG." Minister of Social Justice St. Mark UMC Joshua Noblitt: "SHE METHODIST NOW!" Here's another one. Simply Jim: "Rev. Dr. Beth. What was it about this Priest at St. Joseph that inspired you to become a Methodist Administer?" Married with Children Senior Pastor St. Mark UMC 80% LGBT: "“When I was 12 year old and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, I realized that I would never be happy in life if I had to do another job other than the job that the priest at St. Joseph’s did.” Simply Jim: "I already know that. Read it in you profile St. Mark's web site. But what was it about this Priest that inspired you into becoming a Methodist Administer." Getting no answer from our Rev? Dr? Beth, i suggested one to her I thought would be an appropriate answer: "Well you do have a talent for public speaking." To all my fellow Methodists: IF YOU ARE GOING TO CONTINUE INSISTING ON BELIEVING IN A GOD YOUR WAY, THEN i'M HAVE NO CHOICE BUT HAVING TO ACCEPT THE RIGHTS OF THOSE HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD FROM US BELIEVING IN A GOD HOWEVER WAY THEY ARE FEELING IT NECESSARY FOR THEM NEEDING TO BELIEVE IN A GOD. James Avery When you combine all three into a single narrative, I'm right back at Radical Atheist. Although all four of us share a commonality, somehow physically deformed or handicapped, there is one major difference between me and the other three; at least they were popular --- INCOME?DISPARITY : TAO~g(Anti-Christ, Armilus, Dajjal)d~OG : ?INDIFFERENCE ? --- One must be willing, as well as able, displeasing them all, that being what it would take this day and age, fair to them all. However, I'm only able doing so for so long. Jesus had it easy. All he had to do was give everyone a hug! Not Defined, Undefined, Unidentified~g(8!0)d~James E. Avery, Herd Health Medicine

I don't have signs in my yard about gays or religion but I should have the right to display if I choose to do.so. I understand my views may offend someone but gays are allowed to kiss and display affection in public which offends me, gays are allowed to display gay flags and symbols so straight people should be allowed to display their beliefs as well.

James Avery As we must first be introduced to God before being aware of God. As I was born into First United Methodist Church of Prescott, Arkansas, population four thousand. Helped raised by that church up until graduating high school. As stuff put into our heads when a kid never really goes away. I'm realizing only recently, although label myself radical atheist, that I have always been and forever always will be Methodist till the day I die no less than Jesus every stopped being a Jew. That one can be both Methodist F*g and radical Atheist at the same time while refusing to label himself Christian. Now if others (including our Muslim extremist halfway around the world from us) are wanting labeling me a Christian for whatever reasons of their own, they are more then welcome doing so. But let's be honest with ourselves; this isn't how it works with our Christians. Is it? What I'm currently yelling at the Emory (Methodist) traffic leaving campus late afternoon: JOHN 3! MINUS 1-15! "F*CK YOU!" Nothing but a thoughts terminating cliche! Why not truth be God; universal one instead? Why not? Why not? IN GOD WE TRUST! WHY NOT! JOHN 3! MINUS 1-15! As it relates to God, John 3:16 is just another congeniality biased pro-life "MY SIDE" choice. As far as our "Miracle Baby" Tebow goes: Too bad they ain't Catholic. He would have made a great Priest. Unless already, "Hell Mary Santorum." You will just have to google the meaning of "Santorum" yourself. As I have never had vaginal sex with a woman, even at the age of fifty five I'm still technically a virgin.

James Avery I'm the bad neighbor this newscast is about. I'm going to explain up front the meaning behind the three monkeys hanging by their necks off one arm of a large cross nail to a tree. They generally mean being of sound mind, body and action. They can also mean looking the other way, refusing to acknowledge, feigning ignorance. When combining both perspective into a single narrative, the cancel each other out being most unhelpful. You might as well hang them. Hang them from off one arm of a cross. Fast forward seven years later. Although have explained the meaning behind these monkey to anyone walking sidewalk front of my home willing listening; still coming back around to me that these monkeys are racially motivated.

James Avery A Balanced and a Tragic Vision of Humankind :

There is a fragile line between raw emotional intelligence and emotional competency. One kind of plays with an invisible fire, where the rules are rewritten by forces of education, tradition and vulnerabil
ity inside the wires of the brain cells, mirror neuron mind and its neuroscience factors.

What can one believe... in the end... is that we are in a body with limitation and in a mind with huge capacities but with powerful black holes.

And... one can...think... about working with the flow of the river of the snap social decisions and the personal myths and fictions one constructs through the elements of culture, education and each own physical bodies.

Same thing said a different way...
“believes in the existence of inherent limitations and flaws in the way we think and act and requires an acknowledgement of this fact as a basis for any individual and collective action.”

Just because you don't agree with what he says or thinks, you need to remember it's within his right. Everybody got behind the guy who had "happy" signs in his yard and said he had a right to do what he wanted. So just remember, your rights don't disappear simply because you don't agree with the message.

Chris Marquez I don't think you understand how the first amendment works. The neighbors aren't getting the police involved because of what he's saying. They're getting them involved because he's become a public nuisance and is driving down property values and delaying/nullifying sales of surrounding homes due to his harassment of others.

Chris Marquez I understand it very well as I have degrees in political science. Your rights end where mine begin. Freedom of Speech only protects you from being prosecuted from WHAT you say (and there are some limits to that as well). It doesn't protect you from being prosecuted for harassing people. He's cut back the number of signs to be compliant. That's fine. But it's still against the law for him to stand outside and yell at his neighbors and passersby. That creates a public nuisance and you can be arrested or fined for it. The first amendment doesn't protect you from that.

Charles Langevin Chris Marquez your political science degree fails you. This is why government keeps violating people's rights. Those in government don't study the Constitution, but rather try to learn a way to circumvent it. Speech cannot be regulated based upon the idea being conveyed. There is no inherent right to be protected from your neighbor doing something on his own property which diminishes the value of yours. See Reed v. Town of Gilbert.

Keith Yancey Chris Marquez the first amendment reads thus: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
It does NOT say "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, except when an individual is posting signs in his or her yard that I don't like."
A neighbor putting signs in his yard, no matter how obnoxious they may be, is not harassment and is not a violation of yours or anyone else's rights.

Chris Marquez There isn't a law forbidding him from putting what he wants on a sign in his yard. But there are laws about how many signs he can have. They were written to protect the rights of his neighbors. He has recently started to comply with that ordinance. So that part is fine. There are also laws forbidding him from creating a public disturbance and verbally assaulting his neighbors. Those laws also do not violate his first amendment rights.

Keith Yancey "Verbal assault" isn't a thing. And his neighbors don't have a right to dictate what he does with his property. He's not in an HOA.
If his neighbors don't want to look at his signs, they can pull a Donald Trump and build a "big, beautiful, 7 foot wall" (I don't think Mexico will pay for it though...)
Manage
Steven Newman I don't like what he's doing one bit or the messages on his signs..... But as an American I believe in his right to say it. That is what used to make our nation great, personal freedom. Ordinances that limit the amount of signs and where they can be posted are good laws. I would hate to live next door to him, but his rights stand. We are shifting to a place in this nation where if you feel "offended" by something someone else says, then you want it shut down. That is NOT freedom.

Charles Langevin Sabrina Tumminello Ormond the sidewalk is a public right of way, not public property. The public has the right to USE the sidewalk through easement on his title. Aside from that, public intoxication requires that he be violent or be inciting violence, not just annoying.

Michael Miller Charles Langevin if he is shouting speech that is detrimental to typically chastized groups of people, the potential for violence is there, so Sabrina Tumminello Ormond has a point.

Katie Jones I agree that I thought "terrorize" was a dramatic choice of words. However, my brother lives around the corner from him and I can assure you the neighbors are not the problem.

The root problem appears to be poor mental health and drug use. My brother

Jennifer Silvers Trimble Actually, if they have a little money they can get him out. It will take a couple years but well worth it. The article stated the neighbors have proof that the reason they were unable to sell their home is due to the bad neighbor. The good neighbors can actually ALL sue the bad guy in civil court for the loss of property value etc. All they need is a paper stating the buyer was going to buy the house but decided not to solely due to the bad guy. Of they all sue him for thousands of dollars, they could force him to sell and move or if they get judgement in their favor actually begin seizing his assets including the house if he doesn't pay.
