SUPPORTER COMMENT - He gets more and more provocative and threatening. I'm worried that he will become violent towards me or my family. My family has lived in this neighborhood since 1986.

Mary Cobb, rest assured that I will not become violent toward you, your family, anyone else family living your neighborhood, or anyone's family living any of our many many many many neighborhoods outside of your neighborhood...period.
However, cannot be said the same regarding the potential of violence directed at me by you, by members of your family, by others living your neighborhood, or living any of your many many many neighborhoods elsewhere?
[In psychology, cognitive dissonance is the mental stress or discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values at the same time, performs an action that is contradictory to one or more beliefs, ideas, or values, or is confronted by new information that conflicts with existing beliefs, ideas, or values.
Leon Festinger's theory of cognitive dissonance focuses on how humans strive for internal consistency. Mary, are you even aware that I've been banned from Nextdoor.com for having violated their "Neighborhood" Guidelines?
That I only joined Nextdoor in the first place because of two of our Nextdoor Neighbors becoming concerned, even alarmed, at what they were seeing being posted up to tread about the inappropriate signage 1840 Mason Mill started by one of their Nextdoor Mason Mill Neighborhood Leads; your neighborhood's sweet approachable two-faced President of Mason Mill Civic Association, Mary Hinkel?
Thanks to the support or lack of support your Mason Mill Nextdoor neighbors and your Mason Mill neighborhood leads, that someone named Garrett from Nextdoor Support, wherever it is he lives, had the audacity telling me; "It's possible that Nextdoor is not the right neighborhood for you?"
"Garrett, as the neighborhood I'm wanting to believe I live in extends halfway around the world in all four directions, God had got to be the 'Biggest Mother Fucker' of them all! If not, may be possible next door isn't the right neighborhood for you?" I wrote back to him.
Then again once more. .?
Oh great! Don't like the neighborhood you are currently living, just go online and create another one more to your liking!

It was Bob Gary's wife Janet I first confessed my addiction to illegal drugs as a "Crackhead."
Confess the dept of my depression by saying, "Had i a gun in the house, I could have killed myself."
Even confessed to Bob Gary's wife Janet, whom I had wrongly believed to be my only friendly neighbor, "Janet, are you aware, before there can be an "Antichrist," there must first be a "Christ"? Well I'm an Anti-Christ.
Not only did she graciously welcome, into their homes, a neighbor she already knew was both a self-avowed practicing homosexual as well as a self-avowed practicing atheist; like a vampire, I escaped an Anti-Christ with a crystal meths addiction.
Although there is more I'm very much wanting to add to this posting. It's late. I'm tired. Been a long day. Nothing's changed.
The postings of Bert Gary, pastor of Owl Rock Methodist Church, and his younger sister Susan Landry, senior pastor of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Susan's husband claiming to be the owner of this house directly across from mine, even the posting by a Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Lunz now retire, proof enough why.
Our "United" Methodists might as well bring down their cross; or at least suffering their offering into a pinata hanging from off one arm of it instead.

Since we are having some interesting new signatures along with comments, I'm thinking the posting of these email exchanges between me and our current/past presidents of Mason Mill Civic Association attempting a meeting with them, discussing the issue of my signs/behavior, might help you understand Louis and Susan Landry's postings; most especially Bert Gary's posting.

Hello John,
This is the mentally disturbed resident of 1840 Mason Mill Road.

Subject: Code violations at 1840 Mason Mill Road
Dear Ms. Lorena,
I am writing as the President of the Mason Mill Civic Association, whose membership is made up of residents who live on, or on streets adjoining, Mason Mill Road in DeKalb County. Our hundreds of members are essentially unanimous in hoping that something can be done about the deplorable situation at 1840 Mason Mill Road, a property where the owner has filled his front yard with huge inflatable balloon characters, hung tasteless and offensive signs from large trees, and erected crosses with toy monkeys hung in nooses from the horizontal members.
This ongoing display -- it only seems to get more flagrant as time goes on -- is a clear safety hazard for motorists passing along Mason Mill, as many drivers will come to an abrupt halt in front of the property to look at the weird figures and signs. Drivers following behind down the steep hill at this point are in danger of rear-ending the stopped cars.
Of even more concern to our civic association, the bizarre display at 1840 Mason Mill has made the immediate area less attractive to prospective home buyers and renters. The elderly couple directly across the street (at 1841 Mason Mill) have moved to a retirement home, but still cannot sell or rent their house because whenever people come to look at their property they cannot fail to see what is just across the road. And they have invariably said that, no thanks, they wanted no part of what they saw there.
The owner of the property, Mr. James Edward Avery, should at the very least be legally enjoined from continuing with these displays, and immediately.
More important, perhaps, he should be required to submit to psychological or psychiatric therapy. There is ample eVidence, which I won't go into here, that he is severely mentally disturbed and (apparently by his own admission before a DeKalb County judge) a user of illegal drugs. His internet blog, which is available for anyone to read, contains disturbing suggestions about his possibly violent intentions toward his neighbors and the community at large. And his behavior to some of those same neighbors has seemed at times borderline psychotic.
It is the duty of the County government to take action in this case for the common good, and before the situation escalates.
Yours sincerely,
John Bugge

btw: Code Enforcer did write me up three citations on the morning of April 30th. Officer Housworth was also claiming they were here that day at my invite. And in a way, this is true. I did make a call one day to Code Enforcement trying to find out more about the complaint I had placed against myself with Code Enforcement December 8th. Instead of the woman answering the phone being cooperative/accommodating, ended up leaving a message for Officer Housworth suggesting we arrange a date for them showing up and I would be sure to have something in violation of DeKalb County's sign ordinances waiting for them. This unannounced visit...NOT...what I would consider to be an invite from me having been accepted.

As a retired pastor, I am familiar with the tragedy of people afflicted with behavior like Jim Ed Avery's, but have never experienced before such prolonged neglect of his mental illness, his safety, and that of an entire neighborhood. Intervention has been needed and legally appropriate for years. His aggressive and threatening stance is a clear harbinger of violence, with signs of actual domestic terrorism. May God deliver him and us from such an outcome, with the hoped for aid of Delalb County.

I own the property directly across. I have witnessed several unsafe conditions caused by this individual including locked braking and alarmed drivers due to brilliant colored flags being waved near traffic flow. I have witness very inappropriate language on signs. I have witness person sitting naked in lawn chair in driveway. I have had the person verbally harass me and person I have hired to perform work at my home. These behaviors are lowering property appeal and thus value in the local area.

The signage is heightened significantly at afternoon traffic times, and then reduced again. It is a very dangerous situation--we have seen people nearly run off the road as the orange flags were being waved.

I lived across from this address growing up, and witnessed and/or heard many frightening accidents on that dangerous curve over the years. The addition of bizarre and inappropriate signs and displays, and often obscene behavior, right at that dangerous curve, tips the scales significantly.

My family owns 1841 Mason Mill Rd. directly across the street from 1840. The owner of 1840 has harassed my family personally and online for years without provocation. My parents moved out as a result. We may never be able to sell property with the psychotic, drug-induced behaviors and outrageous, profane displays in the front yard of 1840. Be advised that he is a relentless, sadistic provocateur who enjoys notoriety and confrontation. Thank you for your prompt action.
