Reconciling Ministry Network results
The results are in from the Church Conference vote concerning the motion for Glenn to become a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network. There were 307 votes cast by full professing members of the church. Of the votes cast, 87% were in favor of the motion, surpassing the 80% requested by the Rainbow Advocacy group, and approved by Church Council. Glenn will become a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network. We are grateful to Rev. Dana Everhart, our District Superintendent, for leading us through this process.
It was quite obvious from the turnout of our membership for this important decision, and by the speakers who spoke both in favor and in opposition to the motion, that the life and ministry of Glenn Memorial UMC is a central concern and commitment to every person gathered. It was also clear from the kind regards the speakers had for one another and for the full body, and the respect shown to the speakers by those gathered, that we are a congregation willing to work together on critical issues on which we do not all agree.
Glenn Memorial is, has been and will continue to be a place of openness and welcome as we strive to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. May God guide us into the future as we seek to be a community of faith dedicated to loving God and loving neighbor.
